It's been a long time since I've updated. All the stuff I've posted about, the families, are gone. I ended up having to get a new computer, and so my sims have been completely redone. Somehow when i was creating my family, I ended up making the son be a female, and when I used cheats to alter it later, every time he aged up he looked really girly, so it was kinda funny. Other than that, my mom and dad went to the future, and it bugged the mom out because she had some of the canned jams and preserves from the new canning station in her inventory. She wasn't able to talk to any other sims, but my other sim could talk to her and she could interact autonomously with other sims. In order to fix it, I had to delete all the jams and preserves from her inventory. In retrospect, it should have been a clue they were causing the problem because the icons blanked out.
So the best advice I can give you tonight is
don't go to the future with those items in your inventory, lol.
On a side note, my entire sims 1 and 2 collection, every expansion and stuff pack, is gone. Burned in a house fire at my mother-in-laws. We had never gotten it out of her upstairs storage. I feel terrible for my in-laws, of course, but i'm also really sad about all my things as well. I have thousands of dollars worth of books stored there, some original Magic: The Gathering cards, my collector copy of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, baby pictures of me with my grandparents, and I'm not even sure what else at this point. It's sad and rough going for them, and we are doing everything we can to help them. We haven't started clean-up yet at their house, just because I don't think any of us are strong enough to stomach it yet. My husband is so sad because he grew up in that house, his grandparents built that house. It was a multigenerational family home, been there for nearly 50 years. The fire was caused by a freezer in the garage, and before the crappy fire department could 'get enough water" the house was pretty much gone, so they sat back and "kept it contained". I personally am not sure why a fire truck would come to a fire without water, but I guess that's how they do things. Morons, all of them. I'm so glad we moved out of that town finally.
